Ruto CASs won't assume office until appointment case is determined – court

Judges said the CASs will suffer no harm if the orders are not vacated.

A three-judge bench has declined to set aside temporary orders stopping the 50 CASs from being in office and earning salaries.

Justices Kanyi Kimondo, Hedwig Ong'undi and Aleem Visram said the CASs will suffer no harm if the orders are not vacated.

"The issue is whether or not their appointment is constitutional, in the event the court finds they are in office legally, they will be paid their dues," said the bench.

The two cases challenging the appointment of CASs were consolidated and a bench was constituted to hear them.

President William Ruto on March 23, swore- in the 50 nominated Chief Administrative Secretaries at State House, Nairobi. 

Leaders, nominees and their family members were present at the venue. 

Among those who took the oath of office were; Evans Kidero, Millicent Omanga, Denis Itumbi, Nicholas Gumbo, and Isaac Mwaura. 

Others were; Cate Waruguru, Samuel Tanui, and Charles Njagua.
