Residents of Panda Village, Webuye West were shocked after stumbling on a decomposing headless body of a man on a sugarcane plantation.

The farm's owner Francisco Wafula said he was conducting his usual inspection on Tuesday when he came across the headless body.

Speaking to the Star, Wafula said the decomposing body had been buried in a shallow grave with some missing parts.

He said the body parts had been buried at different positions on the plantation, decrying high insecurity in the area.

Wafula called on police officers to beef up security.

He said that after coming across the body, he raised an alarm to alert the residents who rushed to the scene but none was able to identify the man.

Area chief Pius Wanyonyi condemned the act calling on residents to identify amicable ways of solving problems rather than killing someone.

“We can’t tell what caused his death. If you have any problem related to family disputes or land disputes let us know,” he said.

Wanyonyi said the body was picked up by police officers from Webuye police station and taken to Webuye County Hospital mortuary as they launch investigations into the murder.

He called on the residents to report suspicious individuals in the area.
