Police are engaging in running battles with stone-pelting youths who had attempted to block the Kibra bypass.
The youths had temporarily blocked one section of the busy road prompting police officers who were deployed in the area to respond by lobbing teargas.
The road is currently impassable as the authorities engage the youths who were regrouping.
The adjacent Kibra South Health Center remained under siege for the better part of the morning as it provided a buffer zone between the youths and the police.
On the opposite side Lindi, Kibra, there was relative calm but most shops had closed.
The area has been face of violent confrontations since the opposition started their mass action on March 20.
Most school going children did not go to school with some schools literally closed for the better of the morning.
At some point, police chased away journalists as the situation got out of hand.
