Mwingi man dies by suicide after hacking brother to death

The bodies of the two have been moved to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary

A 32-year-old man from Muliluni in Mwingi West hacked his younger brother aged 24 years using a panga while on their family farm.

After the incident, the 32-year-old died by suicide after hanging himself inside his house.

Mwendwa Katumani, a neighbour said the two had their breakfast together then later the younger brother went to till their family farm.

"He then attacked him while on the farm using a panga and left him lying almost lifeless," he said.

He was taken to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital.

"Upon receiving the news, we visited him in the hospital where he was undergoing multiple stitches, he had a deep cut on the back side of the head, his hands and his back," Kitonga Muasya, a neighbour said

After the incident, villagers started pursuing the perpetrator where they broke into his home and found him hanging from the roof of one of his rooms.

However, the 24-year-old died while receiving treatment.

Confirming the incident, acting Mwingi Central subcounty police commander, Kazungu Charo said the bodies of the two have been moved to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary as investigations begin.
