Big names missing in Ruto's CAS nomination list

Ruto nominated 50 CAS who, if successfully vetted, will be appointed to various ministries.

A number of key allies of President William Ruto have missed out on his latest appointment to the office of Chief Administrative Secretaries.

Former football star McDonald Mariga did not make the cut despite being shortlisted for the post.

Mariga unsuccessfully vied for Kibera parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket.

Another ally of President Ruto who has missed despite making it to the Public Service Commission interview list is ex-Soi MP Caleb Kositany.

 
 

Kositany had an interest in the Uasin Gishu governor sit in the August 9, 2022 polls but lost in the UDA primaries.

Veteran journalist Mwanaisha Chidzuga has also missed out on the seat despite making it to the shortlist.

She unsuccessfully vied for Matuga parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket.

Chidzuga however landed a new role with a newly established radio station.

Former Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Ngiciri who also tried her luck in the Kirinyaga governor race and lost to incumbent Ann Waiguru is also missing from the list. 

James Ongwae, who served as Kisii governor until 2022 is also nowhere to be seen. 

Ongwae was supporting Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga in the August polls but defected after polls to support Kenya Kwanza. 

Former governors  Samuel Ragwa of Tharaka Nithi and Patrick Khaemba of Trans Nzoia counties are also missing. 

Ruto nominated 50 CAS who if successfully approved by the National Assembly, will be appointed to various positions. 

Poll losers who have made it to the list are; Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero who ran for Homa Bay Gubernatorial seat,  Millicent Omanga ( Nairobi Woman rep),  Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia East), Onesmus Ngunjiri (Bahati MP), Bishop Margaret Wanjiru ( Nairobi Senator), Isaac Mwaura ( Ruiru MP) and Rehema Jaldesa (Isiolo Woman Rep)

Their roles entail responding to issues touching on the portfolio assigned to the office and providing liaison with the bicameral Parliament and county governments on matters of concurrent mandate and common interest.
