Kenya Power announces nationwide outage

The company said the outage was due to system disturbance

Kenya Power has announced a nationwide power outage.

In a statement on Saturday, Kenya Power said it has lost power supply in various parts of the country due to system disturbance. 

"We are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible," the statement read. 

The company further stated it will inform the public of the restoration progress. 

"We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused," the statement read.

Complaints from Kenyans had started streaming in at 6:00 pm, with most residents in Nairobi saying they are currently in the dark. 

In January, through a public notice, Kenya Power also announced a power outage that affected several parts of the country. 

Parts of Nairobi and six other regions were affected. 

Kenya Power announced that the power outage was part of the company's scheduled maintenance.
