Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando has described the government's current expenditure as an irony.

Kabando on Friday was reminiscent that when President William Ruto ascended to power, his regime claimed that they found empty coffers.

"Ruto administration told the world that they got only Sh93 million in state coffers when they took over," he said.

Kabando said he was puzzled that despite the government finding empty coffers after they took to power, the office of the  President spent half a billion purely on entertainment.

He questioned whether hustlers were fooled.

"The irony, nay, puzzle is that in under 100 days, the president's office itself spent sh531,000,000 (0.531 billion) on entertainment alone. The hustlers were not fooled?, " he posed.

According to a report by the Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o, the State House has been spending approximately Sh5 million daily on hospitality since the new regime took over.

The report revealed that it was between September and December.

When broken down, this translates to Sh4.8 million daily for the 109 days under review.

The controller of Budget report shows that in the three months after Ruto's swearing-in, the entire government has been spending about Sh16 million per day on hospitality expenses alone.

Ruto, since he took to power has been hosting delegations of religious and political leaders.

The president has also been attending church services every Sunday in different regions across the country.
