Azimio coalition has suffered a blow in their bid to oust Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo as Senate Minority whip after a court temporarily stopped the move.

Senate Deputy Speaker Kathure Murungi said that speaker Amason Kingi has received an order from the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal barring him from effecting the changes.

"I hereby defer the delivery of the communication until the matter is heard and determined," Murungi said.

The Speaker was expected to make the communication to remove Dullo on Tuesday afternoon.

In the changes, Dullo was set to be replaced with Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina who has been serving as her deputy.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is set to be Ole Kina's deputy.

But Senate Minority leader Stewart Madzayo has protested the move saying that neither himself nor his party has received the orders.

Madzayo said that the Speaker was against the traditions of the House and the precedent set by previous speakers.

He argued that the PPDT has no powers or mandate to stop proceedings of Parliament.

"What we want as a minority is what we gave you last week and it has taken so long, you are now denying the minority opportunity to have their leaders," he said.
