Two suspects arraigned for failing to report defilement case

They allegedly conspired to obstruct justice by failing to report the defilement of a five-year-old.

A Mombasa court on Monday charged two women for failing to report the defilement of a five-year-old minor.

Police said the two suspects, Bahati Juma Said and Mwanakombo Ramadhan, allegedly conspired to obstruct the course of justice by failing to report the minor's defilement to the police. 

Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku heard the case.

"The two suspects conspired to defeat justice by aiding the perpetrator, Salim Juma to escape," office of the DPP said. 

Police said the particulars of the charge is that the accused persons committed the offence on February 6, 2023 at Msikiti Noor area, within Mombasa county. 

The suspects pleaded not guilty and were each released on a Sh200,000 surety bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.

The case will be mentioned on February 27,2023.
