Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday presided over the 45th Lions Day at UN, Nairobi.

He said that Kenya is proud to be associated with Lions clubs, a respected global humanitarian organisation for many years.

"Today, on behalf of President William Ruto, I gave a keynote address during the 45th Lions Day with the UN at the UN offices in Nairobi," the DP said in a statement.

He said that the organisation saved lives when Covid 19 pandemic hit the world.

"When the Covid-19 pandemic ravaged the world, for instance, the 48,000 Lions clubs across the globe and more than 1.4 million volunteers made a great impact on humanity when lockdowns and clouds of uncertainty rocked the world. They saved many lives," Gachagua said.
