A Nairobi court has allowed detectives to continue detaining for 14 days, a woman suspected of stealing her sister’s children aged 2 years.

The court allowed Passe Janira's detention after the prosecution filed an affidavit in court.

The court heard that the accused was arrested on February 5 and booked at Kabete police station for a case of child trafficking.

The court heard that complainant Mercy Ayuma Mudanya reported that she traveled from the upcountry to visit Janira with her twin children aged two years.

The prosecution told the court that the preliminary investigations show that Janira was behind the disappearance of the two kids.

They urged the court to allow them 14 days to complete their investigation before preferring charges against the accused.

They said that some key witnesses are yet to record their statements and the accused will lead them to the whereabouts of other suspects.

The magistrate directed that she be detained at Kabete police station as investigations continue.
