A Police officer in Magarini has been arrested for allegedly defiling a minor in Marereni of Kilifi County.
The suspect was arrested by police officers attached to the AHTCPU, Mombasa, on Sunday night and will be arraigned in a Kilifi court on Monday.
A police report seen by the Star revealed that the officer will be charged with defilement.
"The offense was committed on diverse dates in September of 2021 against one S.R.F aged 16 years," said the report in part.
The arrest comes months after GBV activists in Malindi protested against the delay in arresting the suspect.
Last month, the activists held a demonstration in Marereni, protesting against the continuous delay.
This is after a police officer in the same area also defiled another minor.
GBV Activists have taken to social media, saying that finally justice has been done for the minor who was defiled.
