Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged MPs allied to the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance to take the lead in expanding schools infrastructure.
The DP asked the MPs to put in place measures to ensure that more classrooms are build in primary schools across the country to achieve the 100 per cent transition to Junior Secondary.
Gachagua asked the MPs to ensure that the National Government Constituency Development Fund priorities are aligned to the government's transition targets.
"I requested MPs to avail resources from the CDF for construction of extra classrooms and laboratories. To this end, they will need to plan with BOMs and teachers to ensure success," Gachagua said.
He said it is important for Majority Party MPs to lead by example particularly on implementation of the JSS which will now be domiciled in primary schools.
The legislators allied to President William Ruto's ruling alliance are having a parliamentary group meeting at the Windsor Golf Hotel.
Gachagua opened the conference on Monday morning in an effort to build capacity of MPs in their legislative work.
"This morning, I opened the National Assembly Majority Party Conference on Legislative matters in Nairobi," Gachagua.
Gachagua thanked the Kenya Kwanza MPs for their steadfast role during the vetting of the Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries to ensure a fully constituted Government.
"To the younger MPs, I encouraged them to speak robustly and contribute to Business in the House as a step to National leadership," he said.
With the increased uptake of the Hustler Fund, Gachagua urged MPs to actively explain and engage the people on operations of the Fund, its value, and the benefits of borrowing and repaying.
President Ruto is expected to also address the MPs later on Monday.
