A man who allegedly sneaked into the priest’s room and stole some Sh 47,000 from his drawer has been charged with theft.

Denis Thiongo denied the charges at the Kibera law court and pleaded for lenient bond terms.

He is accused of stealing Sh47,000, the property of Father Pieree Champroux on October 19 at Kawangware in Dagoretti subcounty.

The court heard that the Father was in his the chapel when the accused person allegedly sneaked into the room and made away with the said cash.

The Father was shocked when he came back to his bedroom and found that the money was missing.

He quickly shared with some of the church members and a security guard who told him that the accused person was spotted entering the house.

The matter was quickly reported to the police and the accused person was arrested and arraigned in court.

He was released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 with the surety of the same amount.

The magistrate directed that the matter be mentioned later next month to fix a hearing date.
