The Football Kenya Federation has released the schedule for the 2022-2023 Kenya Premier League season.

This comes a day after the national football governing body scrapped the previous season which was overseen by a government-appointed caretaker committee.

The new season is set to start on November 19 with eight matches scheduled to be played on that day.

Defending champions Tusker will renew their rivalry with Kakamega Homeboyz in the opening encounter of the season at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega county.

The teams finished as champions and runners-up respectively in the previous season which was annulled by the FKF National Executive Committee on Wednesday.

Ulinzi Stars will host AFC Leopards in their new state-of-the-art facility at the Langata barracks.

Posta Rangers will clash with Mathare United at the Thika stadium. Slum Boys, who were relegated the previous season after finishing at the bottom of the table, got a lifeline from the cancellation of the league.

Record champions Gor Mahia will open their new season account against Nzoia Sugar at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi. Bandari have a date with Sofapakaat Mbaraki grounds in Mombasa while Vihiga Bullets will lock horns with Wazito at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Talanta will dare Kariobangi Sharks at Moi Stadium, Kasarani. Kenya Police have a tough battle against KCB at Kasarani Annex. Nairobi City Stars will settle scores with Bidco United at the same venue in the second match of the day.

The fixtures excluded APS Bomet and Fortune Sacco who had been promoted to the country's top tier after finishing first and second respectively in the National Super League.

The fate of the two clubs was decided at a meeting organized by the National Executive Committee of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Wednesday.

Tusker football club was also stripped of their 13th Kenyan Premier League title in the most bizarre fashion.

The major activities witnessed in the football arena come a few days after the Minister of Sports Ababu Namwamba reinstated the FKF National Executive Committee and its secretariat.

The CS swung into action after meeting senior officials of the Kenya Premier League clubs at the Kenya National Library Service in Nairobi where his offices are located.

The officials recommended the reinstatement of FKF vice president Doris Petra, chief executive Barry Otieno, and the entire secretariat.

Fifa earlier in the year asked the government to eat humble pie and restore the embattled FKF administration led by Nick Mwendwa as a condition for lifting the suspension.

The term of the FKF Transition Committee which was created by former Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed on November 11 to oversee the previous season expired a fortnight ago.

The committee managed the promotion and relegation of the affected clubs.

The government-backed Transition Committee and the ousted federation led by Nick Mwendwa had been embroiled in a power struggle over the past two months.
