First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto on Thursday chaired a meeting with major environmental stakeholders.

The meeting sought to define a woman-led climate action agenda.

The meeting took place at State House, Nairobi.

Present at the State House were environmental specialists and major environment stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, UNEP and Thunderbird School of Global Management. 

Rachel said the initiative aligns with Government priorities. 

It aims at minimizing vulnerabilities to events related to climate change -such as the ongoing drought - and improving the adaptive capacity of women to climate shocks through greenhouse entrepreneurship. 

 "A transition to a green economy will result in faster growth and a cleaner environment from a significant reduction in environmental risks ecological scarcities, higher productivity, increased human wellbeing and social equity," Rachel tweeted.

Also in attendance was the Principal Secretary Devolution Julius Korir.
