President William Ruto on Sunday led the congregation in the praise and worship session at the Thanksgiving service at State House.

" Bwana ni mchugaji wangu, katika safari yangu twatembea na wewe," he sang.

"Roho yangu naikuinue ... jinsi wewe ulivyo mkuu.' (Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,How great Thou art, how great Thou art.)

Ruto sang the 'How great Thou art' lyrics as he carried his hands high up and closed his eyes and indication that he was enjoying the song.

Ruto's connection with church choirs is not new as he revealed he used to belong to one, years back.

Together with his wife, mama Rachel Ruto they were members of an evangelist team called North Rift and that is how they met.

Early this month, when the Supreme Court upheld his win, Ruto at his former Karen residence led leaders in singing 'Ndiye Mwamba ni Salama.

During his swearing-in ceremony at Kasarani, he invited Tanzania's famous Zabron singers to perform  'Mkono wa Bwana', a song that holds a special place in his heart.

Early this year, a video of young Ruto emerged online, leading choir in 1980 during the late President Daniel Moi’s era.

The song in praise of  Moi demands that ‘weeds’ on Moi’s farm should be done away with.

Kwekwe shambani mwa Nyayo na zilimwe. (Let weeds on Nyayo’s (Moi) farm should be cultivated),” the students sing as led by Ruto.
