Highway Secondary School will now represent Nairobi in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national championship, following the disqualification of Waylight from the competition.
Waylight, who shook off their minnows' tag heading into the tournament to upset Highway 1-0 in the regional finals on August 28, were found culpable of fielding an ineligible player.
Defending national champions, St. Anthony's Kitale, might be handed a lifeline in the competition after North Eastern failed to avail a representative.
St. Anthony's suffered a shock defeat to tournament dark horses Kabarnet Boys High School in the finals of the Rift Valley region over the weekend. They are likely to fill the second slot as hosts.
Wiyeta and Itigo were both picked to represent Rift Valley in the girls' category as hosts.
Itigo, who lost 5-1 to Wiyeta in the finals, will fill the slot occasioned by the absence of a representative of the North Eastern region.
