United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate in the Kisii governor race Ezekiel Machogu has vowed to challenge Simba Arati’s win.
Machogu claimed the electoral process in Kisii was marred with serious anomalies.
“Right from voter bribery, alteration of figures in favour of Azimio affiliated candidates and outright bias from compromised IEBC officials,” claimed Machogu.
In a statement, the Nyaribari Masaba MP added: “Interestingly, even the votes cast in some polling stations and constituencies are more than the number of registered votes. With this kind of manipulation, it makes the whole exercise a mockery of a free and fair election as it fails to reflect the will of the people.”
He said a Cabinet Secretary from Kisii premeditated and publicly stated a month ago that elections had already been won, and it has come to pass.
“With this kind of flawed process, the Kisii people are the greatest losers as one can force himself to a position of leadership but service delivery will always remain a challenge. Let the Kisii people get prepared for a mediocre leadership ever witnessed in modern history,” said Machogu.
Machogu said he is considering moving to court once the final results are released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
“For the truth to be known, going to court will be necessary. That is a totally wrong way of forcing oneself into leadership,” he said.
According to tallies from constituencies, Dagoretti North MP and ODM candidate Simba Arati was headed for a huge victory with Machogu trailing in second place.
Others who were in the race are Kisii senator Sam Ongeri, former senator Chris Obure, former South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya, among others.
