Speaking to the media, Ruto said that the exercise for choosing leaders for the next five years was underway.
"It has been very good that after so many months of campaigning and selling our manifesto and agenda, finally, the D-day is here. Everybody here wants a peaceful process and we even had a spontaneous prayer before voting," he added.
This will be his first attempt to contest the presidential race after serving as Uhuru Kenyatta's deputy for the last 10 years.
