Kirinyaga county governor Anne Waiguru now claims there is a plot to manipulate the results of Tuesday's elections.

While reacting to the Star's report on Kirinyaga governor seat ballot papers being found in Kakamega, Waiguru noted that they are privy to secret dealings she claimed were being orchestrated by the deep state.

"We are aware of the plans by deep state .. you will not succeed," she tweeted.

The Star had earlier reported that there was a mix-up in the distribution of the ballot papers.

Area returning officer, Joseph Ayatta confirmed that they received ballot papers belonging to Kirinyaga county.

"It is true that the ballot paper was found. We will issue a comprehensive statement later," Ayatta told the Star on phone.

Waiguru termed the mix-up as a plan being led by a few individuals to manipulate polls.

She went ahead to urge the county residents to remain calm and come out in large numbers to vote on Tuesday.

Waiguru claimed that there are attempts to intimidate and rig the polls.

"We have urged our supporters, to come out in large numbers and vote," she added.

Kenyans are set to cast their votes on Tuesday, as early as 6 am until 5 pm.
