One killed as car burnt in Kisii campaigns

One person was killed Saturday evening after a vehicle suspected belonging to a Kisii politician rammed into bystanders at Eburi area in Bobasi.

ODM candidate Simba Arati who word had began to do rounds in social media that the car belonged to him, quickly denied the reports.

"I wish to categorically state that the allegations are not only baseless but cheap propaganda by our detractors who have sensed defeat.

" We dismiss the allegations with the contempt they deserve. Iurge our supporters to continue fostering peace, "he said in his Facebook page

At least seven people were critically injured in the accident and are receiving treatment .

The ill fated car was set ablaze by irate wananchi at the scene.

A witness, however, said the ill-fated car had rammed into Jubilee Party candidate Chris Obure's supporters sparking fury.

"The car was part of some politician's convoy and was speeding when the accident occurred," said George Kebuse, a witness.

A police officer told the Star they are yet to get full details.

"It still early to get all the details, we are trying to ascertain the people of injured it occurred late in the day," he told the Star.
