MPs on Wednesday voted to approve formation of a Coalition Party.
In a late night sitting, 155 MPs voted to approve Clause 6 of the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021 that seeks to establish Coalition political party.
Only 127 MPs - all Tangatanga- voted against the provision.
This has been one of the contentious issue in the Amos Kimunya sponsored Bill.
The MPs are holding a late night meeting to consider the Bill which is at the Committee of the Whole House stage.
Earlier MPs defeated an attempt by Kandara MP to scrap the provision viewed as key enabler of Azimio La Umoja coalition party being spearheaded by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
A record 158 MPs voted to defeat the amendments by Kandara MP Alice Wahome against 134 who voted for the changes.
MP Alice Wahome had proposed a deletion of Chapter Six of the Amendment Bill sponsored by the Majority Leader Amos Kimunya.
