Once again, the political season is here and many politicians are rushing to form parties to secure their interests. But do all these parties securing registration certificates meet the requirements? Well, three politicians who recently registered an outfit were heard celebrating in a city hotel how they 'got away' with the tough requirement of opening offices in at least 24 counties. It was not immediately known how they 'got away' with the requirement. However, according to those in the know, the officials' disclosures that they met the requirement was a lie. They say the offices only exist on paper. Maybe it’s time Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu (pictured) visits all political party offices across the country to confirm their existence.

A man who had applied for the senior-most position in one of the educational institutions in Rift Valley was unable to hide his disappointment from a fellow staff member when he learnt that he had not been successful. A little bird told Corridors of Power that the man wept uncontrollably when he read the memo announcing the new head of the institution. He is said to have applied many times for the position and had believed his time had come. He was shortlisted for the interview and was confident that he impressed the panel. He is also said to have banked on his connection with some officials at the Ministry of Education.

A second-term governor from Western Kenya was recently overheard bragging how he will secure his party’s nomination certificate to vie for another position in next year's election. The man, who is known for his controversies, went ahead to tell whoever cared to listen about how he has already spent a fortune in his party, thus guaranteeing a ticket. He is said to have parted with Sh20 million and promised to finance local campaigns in his county. Party members in the area are now pushing for an explanation from the top leadership lest they sabotage the ongoing voter registration process.

A second-term non-Jubilee MCA from a county assembly dominated by Jubilee party members is a bitter man and has threatened to spill the beans. The vocal ward rep was recently locked out of a foreign trip for which the attendees pocketed millions of shillings in per diems and allowances. The situation has angered him so much that he has threatened to expose how some of his colleagues bribed the organisers of the trip to make it to the list. His handlers say he’s planning to hold a press conference next week to expose underhand dealings that characterised the trip.
