The Italian government has asked Kenyans to desist from violence as they prepare for the August 8 polls.
Ambassador to Kenya Mauro Massoni said violence will affect the tourism sector.
"In case of violence, news will be in the front pages in Italy and tourism will go down," he said on Monday.
The Ambassador was speaking during the opening of an underwater archaeology exhibition in Malindi.
He said Italians are still building new hotels especially in Kilifi county.
"Kenya is a lucky country blessed by God with beautiful beaches. [With the] hotels, youth will get employment and avoid being radicalised," he said.
He noted that unlike the past two years when hotels were empty, the tourism industry has shown signs of recovery and numbers are set to increase with the current developments.

Massoni said he met leaders from the region, including Governor Amason Kingi and Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro to discuss with them the need for peace.
He also asked the national government to speed up the expansion of Malindi Airport to enable larger aircrafts land directly from Italy.
"The airport is a major problem for Italian and other European clients, it takes them three hours from Mombasa to Malindi while in other destinations like Zanzibar it only takes 30 minutes," he said.
But he commended the government's efforts to ensure security in the area was taken care of.
Malindi is home to more than 10,000 Italians who reside in a majority of the villas and apartments in the area.
During his visit in 2015, President Uhuru Kenyatta promised that the government would expand the airport.
