Maize harvest underway in 2,500-acre Galana-Kulalu project

Some 500,000 people in Kilifi county face starvation but the maize harvest will help. The Galana-Kulalu food security project is in the upper side of Kilifi and part of Tana River counties.The National Irrigation Board expects to harvest 30 bags of 90kg per acre in the third phase of the harvesting.

Some 500,000 people in Kilifi county face starvation but the maize harvest will help. The Galana-Kulalu food security project is in the upper side of Kilifi and part of Tana River counties.

The National Irrigation Board expects to harvest 30 bags of 90kg per acre in the third phase of the harvesting. NIB resident engineer in charge of the project Henry Ochere yesterday said harvesting will take one and a half months.
