As July brings colder weather across much of Kenya, health experts are urging the public to watch out for symptoms of seasonal flu and seek medical attention when necessary.
According to the World Health Organization, common signs of flu include fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, sore throat, runny nose, and a persistent dry cough that may last for two weeks or more.
People infected with the flu may also feel generally weak, tired, and unwell.
Seasonal flu tends to spread more easily during cold weather when people spend more time indoors and in close contact with others.
Health professionals advise regular hand washing, covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, staying hydrated, and getting enough rest to help reduce the risk of infection.
Those with severe symptoms, breathing difficulties, or symptoms that do not improve should seek medical advice promptly to prevent complications and protect vulnerable members of the community.
