
Several county governments allocated remarkably low percentages of their total expenditure to development during the first nine months of the financial year.
This is contained in a report by the Controller of Budget.
Mandera spent an absolute zero per cent on development projects.
Kajiado follows with only 8.3 per cent, while Lamu and Mombasa registered 11.7 per cent and 12.7 per cent, respectively.
Moving slightly higher up the bottom 10 list, Nakuru used 13.2 per cent, closely followed by West Pokot at 13.3 per cent and Nyeri at 13.8 per cent.
Other counties include Migori at 15.1 per cent and Bungoma at 15.6 per cent.
Baringo completes the bottom 10 list by utilising 15.7 per cent of its budget for development.
