Demographic statistics of currently working population in Kenya

Kenya's working population is approximately 20 million, with roughly 52 per cent being male and 49 per cent female employees.

The majority (about 16.7 million) work in the informal sector, primarily in wholesale and retail trade, hotels, and restaurants.

About 3.3 million are in the formal sector.

A significant portion of the working-age population is young.

Data from the Driving Innovation in the Pension Sector in Kenya report shows that most of those working are aged between 26 to 35 years.
