Cyber fraud reported cases in Kenya continue to raise concern, with mobile and online banking fraud leading the list.
According to data from the Central Bank of Kenya, mobile banking fraud recorded 146 cases, while online banking fraud stood at 106.
Identity theft was reported 56 times, followed by card fraud at 24.
Computer fraud and internet scams accounted for 12 and 9 cases, respectively.
In response, the Central Bank has outlined plans to enact e-money and digital wallet compensation guidelines aimed at enhancing consumer protection and curbing rising fraud incidents in the country’s fast-growing digital financial ecosystem.
