World Patient Safety Day, established in 2019 through WHO resolution WHA72.6, aims to raise global awareness of risks in healthcare and promote action to reduce harm.
This year’s focus is on pediatric and newborn care, highlighting challenges in childbirth, postnatal services, and diagnostics.
The campaign emphasises safe medication and immunisation, early recognition of clinical deterioration, and active family engagement in child healthcare safety.
In 2025, the theme is “Safe care for every newborn and every child,” under the slogan “Patient safety from the start!”
