In Summary

Over the last six financial years, Kenya’s health sector has consistently faced a gap between budget allocations and actual expenditure.

Despite allocations ranging from Sh109.4 billion to Sh129.8 billion, actual spending has remained significantly lower, with 2023/24 recording the widest gap, Sh105.3 billion allocated but only Sh85.2 billion spent.

This trend highlights persistent underutilisation of health funds, raising concerns about efficiency and service delivery.
