Top 10 countries in helping strangers in 2024

Kenya has been ranked the most helpful country in the world in 2024, according to the World Giving Index by the Charities Aid Foundation.

The country scored 82 per cent in the category of helping strangers, surpassing nations like Bangladesh and Nigeria, both at 81 per cent, and Liberia at 80 per cent.

Other countries in the top 10 include Senegal, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Ukraine, Malawi, and Niger, with scores ranging from 77 per cent to 78 per cent.

The index evaluates generosity based on three behaviours: donating to charity, helping a stranger in need, and volunteering time to an organisation.

A score of 0 is the lowest, and 100 is the highest.
