Governor Johnson Sakaja has issued new directives to matatu operators in Nairobi, aiming to improve environmental cleanliness and reduce noise pollution in the city.

Operators are instructed to stop unnecessary hooting and loud music that disturbs public peace.

Additionally, they must maintain vehicle cleanliness to enhance the city's overall environment.

To facilitate city cleaning, matatus are required to vacate stages during designated night cleaning hours, allowing thorough sanitation by environment staff. Operators must also subscribe to licensed waste management services to handle waste generated by their operations effectively.

The governor further directed the immediate removal of all abandoned vehicles, warning that non-compliance will attract enforcement actions as stipulated by the law. These measures underscore Sakaja's commitment to creating a cleaner, more orderly Nairobi for all residents.
