Kenya has made remarkable strides in geothermal energy production, utilizing its vast geothermal fields.
Olkaria, operational since 1972 under KPLC, remains a key site. Eburru, another KPLC project, began in 1984.
In 2010, the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) introduced Menengai, boosting renewable energy supply.
Recent explorations by GDC include Paka and Korosi in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Paka has been a repeated focus for expansion in 2019.
Silali, commissioned in 2023, is GDC's newest field.
These projects not only enhance Kenya's energy mix but also underscore the nation's efforts toward clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions for sustainable development.
