According to Focus Economics, inflation came in at 7.9 per cent in April 2023, which was down from March’s 9.2 per cent.
"April’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate since May 2022. The softer rise was largely driven by more moderate rises in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, transport and clothing."
It says consumer prices rose 0.50 per cent in April over the previous month, below March’s 0.81 per cent increase. April’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
