The Good News International Church preacher is accused of indoctrinating his followers to starve to death in order to ascend to heaven.

Good News International Church Pastor Paul Mackenzie was arrested on April 15 in connection to the death of tens of his followers in Kilifi County.

Over 100 bodies have so far been exhumed from shallow mass graves at the Shakahola Forest where they are believed to have been buried after death.

Autopsy results have indicated that some of the victims, mainly minors aged below 18, may have been strangled to death.

Mackeenzi was on Tuesday released by a Malindi court before he was arrested again and taken to Shanzu law Courts in Kilifi to face multiple charges relating to the deaths.
