So here we are with the eight teams remaining and the World Cup pausing to catch its breath after 56 games in 17 days.
The quarterfinals will be played on December 9-10 and there must be a winner from each of the single-elimination matches.
The winners of the quarterfinals will advance to the semifinals on December 13-14 and eventually the third place play-offs on December 17 and the final on Dember 18 at the Lusail Stadium.
