Former President Uhuru Kenyatta said violence, bullets and guns will not be the solution to solving issues in Ethiopia.

Speaking to the media in Pretoria after a peace deal was signed between the Ethiopian government and Tigray rebels, Uhuru said the lasting solution can only come through political dialogue.

“People should sit and engage, agree that they have differences because they do, and agree that the lasting solution can be through political engagement and dialogue,” he said.

He added that those clashing should be able to accommodate their differences and diversity while remaining a united Ethiopia or for that matter a united Africa.

The Agreement for Lasting Peace and Permanent Cessation of Hostilities, the representatives of the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the TPLF agreed to announce to the people of Ethiopia and the rest of the world that after 10 days of intensive negotiations, they had signed a peace deal.
