The video of  South African politician and leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters Julius Malema passing a message to Opposition leader Raila Odinga is OLD.

"Raila Odinga has been trying and I think it's time for him to throw in the towel and try a different candidate and perhaps there could be a different outcome," Malema said in the old video.

"This is the fifth time and it cant be done beyond this. He (Raila)  needs to accept and move on." 

The EFF leader further highlighted that the Kenya 2022 August polls were highly contested and with the close outcome, there were chances that individuals wouldn't accept the results.

"It is what it is. With highly contested elections and such a very close outcome, we are likely to have people who are not satisfied. It comes with the nature of the game," Malema said.

The video has been shared widely on social media with a section of Kenyans claiming the South African politician was addressing Raila in line with ongoing demonstrations.

The Star fact-checker, however, has established that the video was first published in August 2022 after the 2022 General elections.

Malema was reacting to the August 9, 2022, Kenyan elections when Raila had just filed a petition at the Supreme Court of Kenya to challenge Ruto's victory.
