A post on Facebook that appears to be a recruitment poster claiming that Kenya’s national airline Kenya Airways is hiring emergency pilots is fake.

It was posted by PostaMate on November 6, 2022.

The qualifications require one to have “a valid Driving license, ability to read and understand complex manuals easily and more than 100 hr of experience flying drones”.

“Exposure to video games [is] an added advantage” is another qualification on the post.

The fake post has spelling and grammar mistakes i.e 100 hr instead of 100 hours. It does not also mention the company’s websites.

Kenya Airways has been struggling financially for years. The airline has held strikes making headlines in the news.

The pilots’ union said they were striking for better working conditions.

On 8 November a court ordered the pilots back to work, ending the four-day strike.

The airline shared a link to its LinkedIn page which has job openings and the above advert is not posted anywhere.

Kenya Airways advertised positions for pilot and captain amid pilot strike that disrupted flights.

“We would like to urge Kenyans and other pilots who would like to join us to please apply. You will see it in both Linkedin and other areas,” KQ Chief Executive Officer Allan Kilavuka said.
