FALSE: Facebook post naming Munga Nyale as the new DCI boss is misleading

At no time was Munga Nyale named the DCI boss.

•In a Facebook post, which has since been deleted, Young Husler claimed that Munga Nyale had landed an appointment as DCI boss.

A Facebook post naming Munga Nyale as the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is FALSE.

Nyale is currently the Principal Assistant to the Inspector General at the National Police Service headquarters.

In a Facebook post, which has since been deleted, Young Husler claimed that Munga Nyale had landed an appointment as DCI boss.

“Breaking news… New DCI boss is  Munga Nyale...Kilifi is once again in the limelight...Congrats Munga Nyale.Congratulations” read the post made on October 14.

 

Fact-Checker has established that the post is misleading.

When the post was shared, interviews had been done to identify a new DCI boss.

At no time was Munga Nyale named the DCI boss.

A search for any credible report of Nyale being named DCI boss is not in existence among the reliable media houses in the country. If Nyale had been named a DCI boss, the news would have been covered by many media houses both locally and internationally.

Upon the conclusion of interviews, President William Ruto named Amin Mohamed as the replacement of former boss George Kinoti who quit the office.

The appointment of Amin Mohamed was first reported on October 1 and was covered by several reliable media outlets.
