Facebook and Twitter pages operating in the name and image of IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera are fake.

The social media accounts have been making comments in the name of Cherera with some exploiting her stand on the Presidential results announced by IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati to spread fake news.

A report by the Star sister news website, Mpasho.co.ke,  indicates that Cherera has clarified that she has no social media accounts.

She said the accounts making commentaries on election and operating on her name are fake.

“I am not on social media. All those Facebook/Twitter accounts are fake and I have reported them to the relevant organizations/authorities,” she stated when contacted by Mpasho.

Cherera is one of the four IEBC commissioners who dismissed results announced by Chebukati on August 15.

Th four termed the process of announcing the final results as opaque even as they stated that they take no ownership of the outcome.

It is from their dissent that Cherera, who was the one addressing most of the press conferences, shot in limelight and became a social media sensation.

Her arguments became a subject of heated social media discussions among Kenyans.
