TWO LAWMAKERS FROM from a semi-arid region are allegedly defying their party leader by secretly backing a rival eyeing the 2027 governor seat. Furious over the party chief’s support for the incumbent county boss, the MPs are said to have held covert night meetings to strategise a political onslaught. Reports suggest that the lawmakers accuse the governor of sidelining them after the 2022 election and reneging on power-sharing promises. The lawmakers have reportedly promised to deepen rifts within the outfit if the party chief doesn’t play ball.
