A former governor from an expansive region is said to be living large more than a year after he left office. Reason? The ex-county chief has become the number one contractor and supplier for the same county he served before losing to his fiercest competitor in the 2022 polls. Those in the know say the man is raking in millions of shillings from the business deals – some rumoured to be dubious – that he struck with the current governor. The man’s companies and his cronies’ do most of the construction work and supply essentials to the devolved unit. Some say the former governor could be giving his successor huge kickbacks for the lucrative tenders.
