A top state official was forced to make frantic calls for cash to avoid embarrassment in front of his juniors and a whole host of others. He had been invited to a fundraiser as the chief guest, alongside a junior officer. During the contribution, the junior officer contributed Sh1 million, throwing his boss into panic and humiliation at the event attended by MPs and other VIPs. The top man had planned to contribute Sh100,000. The event had to be delayed for several minutes as the man made calls for more cash. He managed to save face and get Sh1.5 million.
