He said he does not want to antagonise the competitor and wants to stay on message without distraction. But he is on record incessantly attacking another contender considered one of the leading candidates. Detractors believe the controversial politician is being used by one of the hopefuls as a smokescreen to keep another rival busy and to eat into his demographic.

A parliamentary aspirant in Nairobi is viewed with suspicion in his political circles. A little bird whispers to Corridors of Power that the man, who is a prolific and combative user of social media, has been speaking out of turn with his party's supremo, even on delicate issues beyond his purview. For example, the man recently asserted in an interview that he will not allow elections to go on in polling stations where there is no manual register of voters, citing electoral laws. This is despite his presidential flagbearer declaring he wants voter identification to be exclusively digital. In addition to recently antagonising senior officials on his side of the divide, the man is said to have been marked for 'revisiting'.

Is an Azimio la Umoja parliamentary candidate from a swing county in Rift Valley negotiating to pull out of the race in favor of a competitor? Well, the man, despite landing a direct ticket from a party within the coalition, is willing to drop out of the race. Insiders say the first-term legislator has concluded he has no chance of recapturing the seat. And so he has been negotiating with the coalition’s top brass for an appointment in the national government. Those in the know say he wanted an ambassadorial appointment but has been asked to wait for a position in the next administration.
