Elected leaders from a county in Nyanza are embroiled in bitter political rivalry. Why? The race for governor pitting some contestants against each other has opened old wounds, especially among women leaders. So bad is the relationship that a woman MP and a male colleague are now squabbling over who controls their backyard, a subcounty in the larger region. It's whispered that the majority of elected leaders could have abandoned their own candidate for a big job and are supporting another candidate. Those in the know say the squabbling may trigger an earthquake on August 9. Only time will tell.

Power is heady albeit transient. This could be coming cruelly true for MPs who lost their nomination in the chaotic primaries and now stare at bleak futures. Corridors overheard a committee chair who secured his nomination excoriating the losers as rejects and even went to great lengths to describe how lonely they are in the Corridors of the House . The reality has hit the lawmakers to the extent that many of their staff members have deserted them and they themselves have lost so much weight due to stress and dwindled fortunes.
