A senior city county official well above retirement age continues to harass and extort people seeking service. The man has been implicated in many scams and prosecution has been recommended by the EACC. He has gone into overdrive to collect as much money as possible before he is pushed out. He was part of the cartel that sold more than 10 plots meant for Pumwani doctors’ residences. Now there are apartments, godowns and a petrol station on the land. The man and his gang have also been implicated in the grabbing and selling in Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company staff houses in Eastleigh to a private developer.

Governor aspirants in a county in the Rift Valley are considering running as independents, fearing they may be shortchanged by one political outfit. Since they still want to be associated with a political bigwig to up their chances, their only viable option is to run as independents. The aspirants believe they do not stand a chance if they run on tickets of parties competing with one particular outfit. They would be viewed as traitors.

Just under what authority are officers from an arm of the National Police Service mounting a roadblock at the border of a Nairobi county line? Sources said much as the intention of the security could be good, the actions of the officers have become a concern as they have turned into traffic officers. A road user was overheard lamenting the officers demand hefty bribes. Their question is why the faces never change and whether IG Hillary Mutyambai is aware of the roadblock.
