Energy Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma addresses KenGen team during her inaugural tour of Olkaria Geothermal field.

An engineer in CS Monica Juma's Ministry of Energy who is acting in a top position in one of the parastatals is wreaking havoc. The official is determined to crush whoever he thinks stands in his way of being confirmed as the agency's boss. He is said to be witch-hunting former and current officials to clear the way for his appointment. The official, who is also grappling with allegations of incompetence, has been crafting and releasing fictitious reports targeting other officers as he advances his cause.  At some point he has been invoking the name of a senior government official, telling those who care to hear that he is close to them. His threats include telling officers that he can have them sacked by just a word to the CS or even engineer their prosecution.

A senior judicial officer who is under investigations over corrupt dealings is a worried man. A little bird has whispered to Corridors that the officer flew some key complainants in his case to an exotic holiday destination  to soften their hearts. The desperate officer is said to have given millions of shillings to the complainants in order to withdraw the matter and save his skin. Corridors has learnt that the officer flew out of the country to Mauritius during the festive season. The others flew out on different flights. The issue has now attracted the eye of investigative agencies.

Journalists working in a cosmopolitan county are up in arms over the conduct of a communication director in the county. The officer has become a stumbling block to the scribes who say they have never accessed the governor since the woman was hired a year ago. Attempts to reach the governor have failed as the county boss refers journalists to his communication boss. The officer rarely responds to phone calls or text messages. Request for interviews with the governor have fallen on deaf ears. The communication boss has also instructed all the senior officers in the country, including executives and chief officers, not to communicate to the media directly but through her. Any officer who violates her orders, it is understood, faces disciplinary action from the governor.

Top officials of a government agency tasked with the management of finances could soon be in trouble with investigative agencies. The officers have been accused of demanding bribes, especially from investors seeking services there. The officers, who work in a department that directly deals with finances, demand kickbacks before they offer services. They claim they are acting on orders from above. The officers are apparently living beyond their pay as they drive high-end cars and own posh homes. Frustrated investors have now reported the matter to the DCI, EACC and Asset Recovery Agency to probe the conduct of the officers.
